Going For a Short Weekend Holiday
- 19-Nov-08, 12:53 pm
Following cc’s style, I’m putting a teaser for you guys to guess where I’m gonna be for the next few days. Of course, nothing like cc’s trip to China, mine’s a local holiday only
Shouldn’t be too difficult to guess, right? I should get my brollies ready…

My First Cup of Coffee After 31 Days
- 13-Nov-08, 11:32 am
Due to thermogenics, I had to restrain from coffee for a month. If anyone who has ever done thermogenics, you would know they have an unbelieveable high level of caffeine, so you can’t take coffee, tea, or even soft drinks.
Considering I usually ingest up to 3 cups of coffee a day since I was in [...]

Irony
- 7-Nov-08, 07:32 am
Malaysiakini’s Zunar is probably one of the funniest political cartoonist since Lat (are they even any others?). This one is exceptionally ironic, worth a mention here.
I like the pointed sarcasm on hypocrisy. Pak Lah can pay all the lip service about equality and meritocracy he wants, but we all know the reality of it.

My First Ericsson Phone Back in 1996
- 5-Nov-08, 09:06 am
Was rummaging in the cupboard for something the other day when i came across this.
It was my very first phone back in 1996! That was 12 years and 6 handphones ago, man… Back then almost everyone had an Ericsson phone. They had different variations of the basic model - some for PCN networks, some for [...]

Twitter Talk
- 30-Oct-08, 10:53 am
Just joined twitter about two weeks ago, under the name ’simontalks’. Coincidentally, there’s an article in the Star by Oon Yeoh about Twitter and microblogging, for the uninitiated.
I’m exploring all the apps related to Twitter, and believe me, there are lots and lots of them, goes to show how popular it has become. There’s Twibble, [...]

A Love Letter From AIG
- 22-Oct-08, 09:25 am
Last week I got a pink birthday card from AIG, the USD$700 billion bailed out insurance company. Actually it their wholly owned subsidiary, AIA. Slightly different initials, but same same. Think financial meltdown, federal reserve bailout. But I’m digressing.
Actually last week i had already nicely worded letter from AIA telling me “everything is fine” and [...]

Temple of the King
- 17-Oct-08, 09:33 am
It was my first semester of life in university for me, and it didn’t take me long to settle in, but I never really clicked with most of my classmates, partly because I was not Chinese educated nor very interested in studying. But i found a few good friends like Dave and Ray, who shared [...]

Something On My Mechanic
- 12-Oct-08, 06:20 pm
My friend once told me a modern day adage that I found to be very true:
these days everybody needs to know 3 people - a doctor, a lawyer and a mechanic.
Without any of the services of these three professional, be prepared to lose lots of money when something goes wrong, ESPECIALLY the last one.
I have [...]

Some time ago, I wrote a blog posting about the Alleycats (you can read it here). That was in April 2006.

In Memoriam: Paul Newman
- 29-Sep-08, 05:24 am
There have many touching tributes to the great Paul Newman over the last 2 days, but i had to pay my tribute to an actor which i held in high regard.
Newman was an immensely talented actor, actor in over 60 films from 1954 until last year, that’s more than half a decade. But for me, [...]
